The Terrazza a Mare in Lignano transfers from State ownership to the Region. The Council of Ministers has approved the transfer of the Terrazza a Mare in Lignano Sabbiadoro from State ownership to the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. This historic decision marks both an administrative and symbolic turning point, concluding a process carried out through the State-Region Joint Commission.

“This is an important recognition,” said Regional President Massimiliano Fedriga, “as it allows us to return to the community and to the many tourists an architectural landmark like the Terrazza a Mare. We thank Prime Minister Meloni for her attention. The renovation works, supported by €16 million from regional funds and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, are progressing on schedule and will enable us to reopen much of the facility by summer 2026.”

Regional Councillor Sebastiano Callari noted that by law everything built on maritime state property becomes state-owned: “For this reason, we requested the transfer, so that the investments remain for the benefit of the territory.”

The project, described as the largest water-based construction site in Europe linked to tourism, has already completed offshore works, with dismantling scheduled for mid-October. Remaining works on the upper part of the building are expected to finish by mid-2026.

“The redevelopment,” added Regional Councillor Bini, “will restore a renewed and expanded landmark, while also providing Lignano with new recreational and cultural spaces, strengthening its role as a top tourist destination.”
