The works to upgrade the Lignano Sabbiadoro Val Lovato water pumping station have begun.
Yesterday, with the ceremony to lay the first stone, the project to expand the Val Lovato water pumping station officially began. A strategic intervention that will double the absorption capacity of the plant, bringing it from 7.2 to 12.7 cubic meters per second, thanks to an investment of approximately 5 million euros.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Regional Council Mauro Bordignon, the Regional Councilor for Public Works Riccardo Riccardi, the President of the Consortium for the Land Reclamation of the Friulian Plain Rosanna Clocchiatti and the President of the CAFC Salvatore Benigno.
The project, financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, is the result of the collaboration between the Consortium for the Land Reclamation of the Friulian Plain, the CAFC, the FVG Region, the University of Udine and the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro. This synergy demonstrates how cooperation between different local entities can lead to concrete and fundamental interventions for the protection of the territory and the promotion of environmental sustainability.
What will change?
At the end of the works, the Lignano Sabbiadoro drainage system – which includes Val Lovato, Punta Tagliamento, Campilunghi and the Sabbiadoro purification plant – will have a maximum flow rate of 30 cubic meters per second. This means that, in just five days, it will be able to dispose of a quantity of water equal to the capacity of Lake Barcis, ensuring effective protection against the risk of flooding.
A significant step forward for the safety and well-being of citizens and the many tourists who choose Lignano Sabbiadoro as a destination for their holidays every year. This intervention not only strengthens the resilience of the territory, but also contributes to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable development.
