LaRoste Gravel 2026: Three Days of Gravel Cycling in Lignano Sabbiadoro

At the end of September, Lignano Sabbiadoro becomes a hotspot for gravel bike enthusiasts. From Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September 2026, the Friulian seaside town hosts a line-up of events combining competition, cycle touring, vintage bikes and activities for young riders, on routes that cross dirt roads, riverbanks and pine forests between the sea and the lagoon.

LaRoste Gravel RACE: the National FCI Race

The competitive highlight of the weekend is the national FCI gravel race on Saturday afternoon. The course is a loop of around 60 km, ridden once or twice depending on category, for a total of 60 or 120 km. It's a fast, flowing route with technical sections and stunning scenery, suited both to amateurs who want to race the clock and to experienced riders looking for a demanding test.

LaRoste Gravel RIDE: Exploring Friuli by Bike

Sunday is for those who'd rather ride without rankings. The RIDE is a non-competitive event with a GPS track, offered over two distances. The route follows white gravel roads, river embankments and the pine forests of the Friulian plain, passing historic villas and local food and wine producers along the way. Everyone rides at their own pace: the goal is to explore, not to finish first.

Vintage Bikes, Road Safety and Kids' Activities

Alongside the race and the ride, the programme includes the Ciclostorica d'Oro, a ride of about 30 km reserved for vintage bicycles, plus several events for young people: a road safety day with local schools, a guided ride for younger children and a gymkhana for kids.

Friday 25 September

In Bici Sicuri (Safe Cycling) – from 9:00 am, Hub Park Lignano Sabbiadoro
Road safety day for lower secondary school students, in collaboration with Istituto Comprensivo G. Carducci and the Italian State Police.

Saturday 26 September

La Ciclostorica d'Oro – from 8:45 am, start at LaRoste Village (Civic Centre)
A cycle tour of about 30 km open exclusively to vintage bicycles, organised with the Associazione Culturale Ottavio Bottecchia of Pordenone.

LaRoste Gravel Race – from 2:00 pm, start at Lungomare Trieste, Office 6
National FCI gravel race over 60 or 120 km.

Sunday 27 September

LaRoste Gravel Ride – from 8:00 am, start at LaRoste Village (Civic Centre)
Non-competitive gravel ride over 75 or 150 km.

LaRoste Family Ride – from 10:00 am, Parco San Giovanni Bosco
Hands-on workshop and 5 km bike ride for children, run by Sognando in Bici.

Gimkaneva – from 11:00 am, start at Lungomare Trieste, Office 6
Bike gymkhana for kids aged 6 to 12, including non-members, organised by G.S. Caneva Gottardo Giochi ASD.
