Sand Nativity: 22th edition 2025 / 2026
Event Exhibition in Lignano Sabbiadoro at Lungomare Trieste, 7:
Now in its 22nd edition, we are pleased to present the Great Sand Nativity in Lignano Sabbiadoro. The theme of the new 2025 edition is “Mary, in the Name of Women.” A feminine journey between the Gospels and our own time, the opening day will be December 6, 2025, while the location remains the same, a large structure set up near Beach Office No. 6.
This long-standing seaside event has, for many years, attracted tens of thousands of visitors from all over Europe to admire the Sand Nativity, a work of art that is constantly evolving and experimenting, and that for 22 years has celebrated and embodied the true meaning of Christmas and the birth of Jesus.
The theme of the 22nd Sand Nativity edition:
Mary, in the Name of Women.
Theme of the new 22nd edition 2025: Mary, in the Name of Women. A feminine journey between the Gospels and our own time, presented as a broad, collective work that unites tradition and modernity through a narrative path whose protagonist is Mary, a figure who transcends the centuries and finds renewed meaning in the eyes of artists and the public alike.
Over the years the nativity scene has studied many conceptual aspects and religious themes, ranging from symbols and works, which refer to the most classic Neapolitan nativity scene, up to recognizable settings with values and beliefs of the land in which we live. The interior fittings have been renovated with various technological components, everything has been designed with great attention to maximally enhance the beauty of the sculptural works on display.
The Sand Nativity in Lignano maintains a relationship with various professionals of the Sand Academy, organized by the Dome Aghe Savalon d’Aur Association, a large team made up of valiant artists, the guys who will create these wonderful works come from all Italian regions. An experience of almost 40 years of work, which since the beginning of this exhibition, collaborates with the city and the proloco of Lignano sabbiadoro in the realization of this great work on the sand.
We remind you that the crib is created without the use of glues or other similar materials for maintenance! only water, sand, and the skilled work of professionals in the sector are used.
The secret for its maintenance, creation and stability lies in compressing all the sand with great care for days.

The nativity scene hours are from 10.00 to 18.00, or from 14.00 to 18.00.
